Man files asbestos lawsuit against 49 companies

Egan

A former laborer has filed a lawsuit over allegations he developed mesothelioma after working around products containing asbestos.

Robert Pensinger filed an asbestos lawsuit July 7 in the Cook County Circuit Court against 49 defendant companies.

In his complaint, Pensinger alleges the defendants caused him to develop mesothelioma after being exposed to their asbestos-containing products throughout his career. He worked as a laborer and carpenter from 1959 until 1979, the suit states.

He claims the defendants knew or should have known of the harmful effects of asbestos, but failed to exercise reasonable care and caution for his safety. As a result of his mesothelioma diagnosis, Pensinger alleges he incurred medical costs, experienced  pain and anguish and was hindered from enjoying his normal life activities.

Pensinger is seeking a judgment in excess of the jurisdictional amount, plus costs, and is being represented by Michael T. Egan of Cooney & Conway in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2014L007117.
