Chicago landlords hit with suit by woman who fell while picking up late sister's belongings

A woman is suing a trio of Chicago landlords, claiming she was injured after tripping on the stairs while picking up items from her late sister's apartment.

Warnetta Irving filed a lawsuit July 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Edna Taylor Wells, Daniel Taylor and Lee Wells, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Irving was at the defendants' apartment building on North Lotus Street in Chicago to collect her late sister's belongings on July 15, 2012, when she tripped on a hole in the carpeted stairs and fell.

She accuses the defendants of negligence in failing to maintain the premises.

Irving is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by the Law Offices of Todd A. Heller & Associates in Deerfield.
