Waterslide injury at Wheeling Park District aquatic center prompts suit

Wheeling

A woman is suing a Cook County park district, claiming her daughter was injured on a water slide.

On behalf of her minor daughter, Anna Babushkin filed a lawsuit July 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Wheeling Park District, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Babushkin was using a water slide at the defendant's outdoor aquatic center on West Dundee Road in Wheeling on Aug. 1, 2011, when she was told by an employee to change from a kneeling to a sitting position on her raft after she'd already started down the slide, causing her to strike her face on the side of the slide.

Babushkin accuses the defendant of negligence and willful and wanton conduct.

She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Andrew J. Long of Law Office of Alexander Gruzmark Ltd. in Glenview.
