Alleged dog attack on Prairie Path prompts lawsuit against owners

A Cook County woman is suing over claims she was injured while walking her dog when a dog running loose attacked her.

Constance Nowicki filed a lawsuit July 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Stephanie Burns and Sergio Carbrarales.

According to the complaint, Nowicki was walking her dog on the Illinois Prairie Path near 51st Avenue in the Village of Hillside on Aug. 5, 2012, when she was attacked by the defendants' dog, which was running loose.

She accuses Burns and Carbrarales of negligence and violating the Illinois Animal Control Act.

Nowicki is seeking more than $30,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Daniel R. Flaherty of Law Office of Daniel E. Goodman LLC in Rosemont.
