A Chicago man is suing two companies after he says he was injured while crossing Michigan Avenue.

Michael White filed suit July 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Blue Ribbon Services Inc. and Pindy Cab Co.

According to the complaint, White was crossing Michigan Avenue in a westerly direction at the road's intersection with Chestnut Street in Chicago on Aug. 8, 2012, when he was struck by a vehicle driven by an employee of the defendants.

White claims he sustained severe internal and external injuries and has spent and will continue to spend money on medical care as a result of his injuries.

The defendants are accused of negligence through their employee who allegedly operated the vehicle at an excessive rate of speed with faulty or defective brakes, failed to reduce speed, give timely warning or take corrective action to avoid hitting a pedestrian.

White is seeking more than $50,000 from each defendant and is being represented by attorney Adam M. Gilbert of Sherwood Law Group LLC in Chicago.
