Woman blames CTA driver for fall, claims she didn't lower ramp

The Chicago Transit Authority and a bus driver are facing a lawsuit from a passenger who claims she was injured while trying to exit a bus.

Ophelia Anderson filed suit July 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority and Chanti Mickles.

According to the complaint, Anderson was a passenger on a CTA bus on Aug. 9, 2013, when Mickles, the driver, failed to lower the bus ramp, causing her to fall.

The defendants are accused of carelessly operating the vehicle, failing to exercise caution in the operation of the vehicle, failing to assure the plaintiff had properly exited the vehicle, failing to lower the ramp and carelessly raising the ramp.

Anderson is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs, and is represented by Chicago attorney Edward M. Rubin of Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum Ltd.
