Shopper sues Ultra Foods over slip in frozen food aisle

A woman is suing the owner of a grocery store in Crestwood, where she claims she slipped in the frozen food aisle.

Lyrae Woodward filed a premises liability lawsuit July 21 in the Cook County Circuit Court against SVT LLC, doing business as Ultra Foods.

According to the complaint, Woodward was shopping at the Ultra Foods on South Cicero Avenue in Crestwood on July 31, 2012, when she slipped on water on the floor of the frozen food aisle and sustained injuries to her leg and back.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain its premises and prevent frozen products from leaking water onto the floor.

Woodward is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney James J. Kenney of Saunders, Condon & Kenney P.C. in Chicago.
