Woman accuses Advocate Medical Group, doctor of medical negligence

Kobrin

An area medical group and doctor are facing a lawsuit from a woman who claims her doctor failed to recognize a mass, leading to a delay in her cancer diagnosis.

Kimberly Bowling filed a lawsuit Aug. 4 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Susan Schy, Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp., doing business as Advocate Medical Group, and Advocate Health Partners, doing business as Advocate Physician Partners.

According to the complaint, Schy performed an examination on Bowling at Advocate on Nov. 20, 2012, and gave her follow-up care to her through Feb. 1, 2013, but failed to recognize an ovarian mass and timely diagnose her cancer.

Bowling is seeking more than $100,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Sharon A. Kobrin of Munday & Nathan in Chicago.
