YMCA hit with suit over woman's fall at West Chicago Avenue housing facility

A woman has lodged a premises liability lawsuit over claims she was injured on the wet floor of a YMCA facility.

Keita Sloan filed a lawsuit July 28 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the National Council of Young Men's Christian Associations (YMCA) of the United States of America, YMCA/Lawson House and YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago LLC.

According to the complaint, Sloan was at the Lawson House, an affordable housing facility owned by the YMCA on West Chicago Avenue, on Aug. 6, 2012, when she slipped on water on the floor and sustained injuries. The defendants are accused of negligence in failing to maintain a safe premises for visitors.

Sloan is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Steven C. Armbruster of The Vrdolyak Law Group LLC in Chicago.
