A public relations company hired to promote a book is facing accusations it failed to do so, costing a consulting company more than $50,000 in lost profits.
Insight Consulting Group LLC filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Murphy Knott Public Relations Inc., alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, Insight entered into an agreement with Murphy Knott on Aug. 14, 2012 for Murphy Knott to aggressively promote a book written by Insight's managing partner and founder, Mark Ingwer, for four months at a fee of $8,500.
Insight, however, claims Murphy Knott only obtained one speaking engagement for Ingwer and nothing else. It claims the public relations company's failure to promote the book cost it valuable time in promotion and resulted in more than $50,000 in lost profits.
Insight is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented by Julie M. Wiorkowski and Aaron H. Stanton of Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella P.C. in Chicago.
