Chipotle faces premises liability claim over customer's slip on soda

An woman is suing Chipotle over claims she was injured after slipping on soda leaking from a fountain drink dispenser in its Niles restaurant.

Nineveh Gewargis filed a premises liability lawsuit Aug. 18, in Cook County Circuit Court against Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc.

According to the complaint, Gewargis was at the Chipotle on West Golf Road in Niles on Aug. 20, 2012, when she went to the fountain drink dispenser and slipped on soda leaking onto the floor.

She claims she sustained injuries to her shoulder and head and accuses Chipotle of being negligent in failing to fix the leak and clean up the floor.

Gerwargis is seeking more than $100,000 in damages and is being represented by attorney Patrick J. Walsh of Walsh Law Group in Chicago.

The case number is Cook County Circuit Court case 2014L008618.
