Jamila N. Foster filed a premises liability.lawsuit Aug. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against H.B. Ontario-Franklin Corp., doing business as Sound Bar.

According to the complaint, Foster was at the defendant's night club on West Ontario Street on Feb. 9, 2013, when her shoe slipped through an open riser on the staircase, twisting her foot and causing her to fall to the bottom of the staircase and sustain injuries.

She accuses the defendant of failing to warn patrons of the danger posed by the negligently constructed staircase, failing to meet building code regulations and failing to prevent water from accumulating or removing it from the staircase.

Foster is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by Oakbrook Terrace attorney Peter M. DeLongis.
