Grand Lux Cafe faces suit from woman who claims she suffered emotional distress

A woman is suing the Grand Lux Cafe over an incident she claims took place outside the restroom of the Chicago restaurant and involved a suspicious man.

Vanessa Spilotro filed a lawsuit Aug. 29 in Cook County Circuit Court against Grand Lux Cafe and its owner, The Cheesecake Factory Inc.

According to the complaint, Spilotro was at the defendants' restaurant on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago on April 29, when she noticed a suspicious man loitering outside the women's restroom.

The suit does not elaborate much on the incident, but alleges it caused Spilotro emotional distress. It accuses the defendants of failing to provide proper security at the restaurant.

Spilotro is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney John K. Vrdolyak of The Vrdolyak Law Group in Chicago.
