Worker's injury on ice maker spurs suit against owners of Oak Lawn Dunkin' Donuts

Greenberg

An employee of a plumbing company is suing over claims he was injured by an ice maker while working on a construction project at an Oak Lawn doughnut shop.

Konrad and Ania Cyron filed a lawsuit Sept. 18 in Cook County Circuit Court against FHS Design Build, Dunkin' Brands Inc., Central Avenue Donuts Inc., and Sam and Amin Panjwani.

According to the complaint, Konrad Cyron was working for Solution Plumbing Inc., a subcontractor for FHS Design Build, which was performing an interior build out in the Panjwanis' Dunkin' Donuts franchise on Central Avenue in Oak Lawn.

Konrad Cyron claims he and another worker were directed to move a used ice maker, being held together with tape, that was left in the front of the shop on Sept. 18, 2012.

Even though it was outside the scope of his work with Solution Plumbing, the suit alleges he picked up the ice maker and the two components of the machine came apart, causing him to sustain injuries to his wrist, hand and arm.

He accuses the defendants of negligence, and Cyron's wife, Ania, is suing for loss of consortium.

The Cyrons are seeking more than $50,000 in damages and are represented by attorneys Paul A. Greenberg and Mark Tompkins of Briskman Briskman & Greenberg in Chicago.
