A man is suing over claims he was injured when he tripped on equipment left on the floor of a store.

Charles Witz filed a lawsuit Sept. 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Corp., Snapple Beverage Corp., Safeway Inc., and Dominick's Finer Foods.

According to the complaint, an employee with the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group was delivering and shelving beverages at the Dominick's on West Division Street in Chicago on Sept. 22, 2012, when Witz tripped on equipment the employee had placed on the floor.

Witz claims he sustained injuries as a result. He accuses the defendants of failing to maintain their equipment or the premises in a safe condition.

He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Charles Cannon of Mahoney Crowe & Goldrick in Chicago.
