A man who claims he suffered vision loss because his doctor failed to diagnose an eye condition is suing.
Brad Schoenberg filed a lawsuit Sept. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court against Sears Inc. and Dr. Eric Greenfield, individually and as an agent of Sears.
According to the suit, Schoenberg was seeing floaters and flashers and sought treatment from Greenfield at Sears Optical on North Milwaukee Avenue in Niles on Feb. 2, 2013.
Schoenberg alleges Greenfield failed to diagnose a retinal tear or refer him to an ophthalmologist, causing the tear to go untreated until he suffered a retinal detachment on Feb. 12, 2013 that required multiple surgeries and caused vision loss in his right eye.
Schoenberg is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Richard I. Levin of Levin, Riback Law Group in Chicago.
