An attendee of a New Year's Eve party at a downtown hotel is suing the party's host and organizer, claiming their negligence led him to slip and fall on the floor.

Adam Partin filed a lawsuit Nov. 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against LCP Berkshire, the owner of the Drake Hotel, and Chicago-Scene.com, also known as Global-Scene.com Inc.

According to the complaint, Parton was attending a party this past New Year's Eve hosted by Chicago-Scene.com at the Drake Hotel, 140 E. Walton Place, where he he slipped and fell because the defendants' staff allegedly did not clean up a spill on the floor.

Parton accuses the party organizer and hotel owner of failing to ensure the safety of those in attendance. He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus court costs, and is represented by Kevin B. Apter of Lipkin & Higgins in Chicago.
