A Cook County man is suing divorce attorneys, claiming their alleged negligence caused him to lose $30,000.

Mitchell Blake filed a legal malpractice complaint Nov. 6 in Cook County Circuit Court against CN Law PC, doing business as Taradash & Associates, and Gordon Nelson, an attorney with CN Law.

According to the suit, Blake retained the services of the defendants to handle the matter of his divorce. He says an agreement was made during a pretrial conference that he would receive half of his wife's Nationwide Annuity Account, which contained about $60,000.

Blake claims the defendants did not make appropriate efforts to ensure the money was still available as he asserts his wife had already emptied the account. He further contends the legal costs he paid far exceeded services he received from the defendants.

Blake is seeking more than $50,000, plus costs, and is represented Robert A. Langendorf in Chicago.
