A man who allegedly fell at a suburban Lexus dealership is suing a cleaning company and its employee, claiming they're to blame for leaving the garbage bags out that he tripped over.

Peter R. Drobneiwski filed a complaint Nov. 19 in Cook County Circuit Court against Oksana Chop and Active Maintenance Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff on Jan. 22, 2013 was at the Lexus dealership at 1285 E. Dundee Road in Palatine, where Chop, an employee of the defendant company, left garbage bags on the floor just beyond the service entrance door. Drobneiwski says he was injured when he tripped over the garbage bags and fell after walking through the door.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants had a responsibility to ensure the business was safe for customers and to properly instruct and train staff to do the same, but failed to do so.

Drobneiwski is seeking damages and is represented by attorney Al Salvi of Salvi & Maher in Waukegan.
