A Chicago mother is suing for medical expenses incurred by her four children after allegedly being exposed to lead paint in their apartment.
Patricia Lewis of Chicago filed the lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court on Nov. 26, citing negligence by the owners and landlords of the building. Ronald Roman, Alan Roman, Leon Wolin, Norman G. Levin, Betty Wise and Joesph Wise are all listed as defendants, along with Chicago Title Land Trust Co., Wolin-Levin Inc. and Gerald Borothman & Co.
According to the complaint, Lewis’ four children were exposed to lead paint in her apartment in the 6000 Block of South Chappel Avenue in 1996 and 1997, when they became ill with lead poisoning. Lewis alleges her children have needed extensive medical treatment for the ailment, which left them with permanent disabilities.
Lewis seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus court fees, and is represented by attorneys Jason Epstein and Phillip A. Brigham, both of Chicago.
