A patron of a Schiller Park restaurant is suing a man he claims attacked him while drunk last New Year's Day and the owner of the establishment for serving the man alcohol.

Ranko Ristic filed suit Dec. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Tuscano’s Italian Restaurant and Lounge and River Road Plaza Inc., both doing business as Tuscano's, and Bojan Gligorevic.

According to the complaint, Ristic was at Tuscano’s on North River Road in Schiller Park on Jan. 1, 2014, when Gligorevic, also a patron, hit, struck and pushed him. Ristic alleges Gligorevic attacked him due to intoxication and that he sustained injuries.

Ristic is suing Gligorevic for assault and battery, as well as negligence. He is suing the defendants doing business as Tuscano's for negligent security and under the state's Dram Shop Act, which can make establishments liable in certain situations when their sale of alcohol to an intoxicated patron causes injuries to third parties.

Ristic seeks more than $50,000 in damages and is represented by attorney Elizabeth C. Ryan of the Law Office of Elizabeth C. Ryan in Chicago.

This is a report on a civil lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court. The details in this report come from an original complaint filed by a plaintiff. Please note, a complaint represents an accusation by a private individual, not the government. It is not an indication of guilt and represents only one side of the story.
