A Wheeling couple is facing a lawsuit over claims their English Bulldog attacked a woman.

Yevgeniya Dukova filed suit Jan. 8 in Cook County Circuit Court against Natalia and Jerome Schwartz, alleging negligence and violations of the Illinois Animal Control Act.

According to the complaint, Dukova was walking on the sidewalk on Oxley Court in Wheeling, when defendants' dog, Winston, ran out of the apartment and attacked her without provocation. Dukova alleges she sustained injuries as a result of the attack.

She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, as well as costs, and is represented by attorney Jeff A. Saltzman of the Law Offices of Jeff A. Saltzman in Schaumburg.

This is a report on a civil lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court. The details in this report come from an original complaint filed by a plaintiff. Please note, a complaint represents an accusation by a private individual, not the government. It is not an indication of guilt and it represents only one side of the story.
