A man is suing a railroad carrier for a fall he sustained due to the company's alleged failure to remove snow from its premises.
Michael Sandoval filed a lawsuit Jan. 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against Belt Railway Company of Chicago, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Belt Railway assigned Sandoval to work at a railroad yard it operated in Bedford Park on Jan. 15, 2012. While there, Sandoval alleges he slipped and fell on an accumulation of snow, leading him to sustain injuries.
Sandoval accuses the defendant of being negligent by failing to inspect and remove the snow from the premises, which caused a dangerous condition for employees, and not warning him of the condition.
He is seeking damages under the Federal Employers' Liability Act and is represented by attorney Patrick J. Harrington of Harrington, Thompson, Acker & Harrington in Chicago.
