A couple is suing a doctor and medical practice over claims she experienced arm and hand paralysis after a surgery.

Kristine Munson and Charles Munson filed a lawsuit Jan. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Samuel Sanghong Park and DuPage Medical Group.

According to the complaint, Kristine Munson sought treatment from Park, who performed surgery on Feb. 8, 2013 at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove to repair a left triceps rupture.

Munson claims she began to experience arm and hand paralysis after the surgery and underwent follow-up surgery at Central DuPage Hospital on Oct. 8, 2013, when it was discovered Park had injured her left ulnar nerve during the initial surgery.

The defendants, the suit alleges, failed to implement an appropriate plan of care after Munson began to experience postoperative paralysis and failed to have her returned to the operating room after the paralysis set in.

Munson is seeking damages and is represented by attorney Francis P. Morrissey of Burke Wise Morrissey & Kaveny in Chicago.
