Woman sues doctors over death of unborn child

A woman is suing a three area doctors, claiming their failure to recognize the signs of fetal distress resulted in the death of her unborn child.

Takara Thomas filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of her unborn child Jan. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Drs. Rachel Perry, Carla Bossano and Jennifer Ahn.

According to the complaint, Thomas received care from the defendant doctors on Jan. 18, 2013 in connection with her pregnancy.

Thomas alleges the defendants failed to timely and properly examine and diagnose her for signs and symptoms of fetal distress. She also says they failed to monitor her unborn child, induce labor and perform a cesarean section.

As of a result of the defendants' alleged negligence, Thomas claims her unborn child suffered injuries and died in the womb, which was discovered on or after Jan. 23, 2013.

Thomas is represented by attorney Lisa K. Lange of the Law Office of Lisa K. Lange in Chicago.
