A woman is suing an Oak Park apartment complex over claims it failed to provide handrails for disabled residents.

Denise Coffer filed a lawsuit Feb. 17 in Cook County Circuit Court against Oak Park Residence Corporation.

According to the complaint, Coffer, who is disabled, tripped and fell while exiting the complex on Pleasant Street. She accuses the defendant of failing to provide handrails in the ingress and egress area to assist disabled persons, the suit states, and not providing concrete landing and safe walking areas.

Because of the defendant's alleged negligence, Coffer alleges she sustained injuries to the pelvic area, hip and shoulder in the fall.

She is represented by attorney Lisa M. Ciharan of the Law Offices of Cy Weiner in Chicago.
