Suit blames woman's death on administration of heart rhythm medication

A woman is suing a Chicago doctor and two medical centers over claims their negligent administration of a medication used to treat life-threatening heart rhythm problems resulted in the death of another woman.

Kim L. Skinrood, as administrator for Peg Chun Woo, filed suit Jan. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Peter J. Stecy, Heart and Vascular of Illinois and Swedish Covenant Hospital.

According to the complaint, Stecy treated Woo for atrial fibrillation and mild pulmonary hypertension from 2011 to 2013. Skinrood claims Woo negligently administered amiodarone to Woo and failed to monitor her blood levels, take chest X-rays and other tests.

Skinrood is represented by Northbrook attorney Martin B. Schorsch.
