Pneumonia victim's estate blames hospital for death

Brasfield 150x150

A hospital and several doctors are facing a wrongful death lawsuit over allegations a patient died from pneumonia.

Rainie Doolin, as administrator of Linda McAuliffe’s estate, filed suit Feb. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against University of Chicago Medical Center and Drs. Darren King, Anna Halpern and Ryan Dunn, as well as registered nurses Amber Turi and Sara Otto.

According to the complaint, McAuliffe was a patient at the hospital, where she died Feb. 5, 2013. Doolin alleges that the doctors and hospital failed to order tests in time to save her.

Doolin is seeking damages, as well as attorney’s fees, and is represented by Amanda L. Brasfield, of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago.
