A Batavia resident is suing over allegations he was assaulted by security guards at a Beyoncé concert two years ago.

Curtis Eshghy filed suit March 9 in Cook County Circuit Court against United Center Joint Venture, the operator of the United Center, where according to the venue's website, Beyoncé performed on Dec. 13, 2013 as part of The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.

During a concert on that date, Eshghy claims he was approached by three security guards, police officers hired by the defendant to handle security, and was asked to leave. When he complied with their request by walking toward the concourse, the suit alleges one of the guards struck him in the throat.

As Eshghy fell onto the stairs as a result of the impact, the lawsuit claims all three officers assaulted him and one placed his fingers in Eshghy's eye sockets. He further asserts they then dragged him to a room and handcuffed him to a bench.

According to the complaint, Eshghy was transported to a hospital. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the nearest precinct, where he was processed and posted bail.

Eshghy claims the allegedly unprovoked assault caused him to sustain physical and emotional injuries. He seeks more than $50,000 in damages, plus attorney fees and costs, and is represented by attorney David Lipschultz of Goldberg Weisman & Cairo in Chicago.
