A school bus company is suing the directors of a high school district, alleging breach of contract.

Grand Prairie Transit Inc. filed a recent lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court against Hinsdale Township High School District 86.

According to the complaint, Grand Prairie Transit won a contract to provide special education busing services to the district May 20, 2013, with services to be provided through the 2015-16 school year. The suit says on March 5, that the district advertised for bids to seek a new provider, and for the new provider to begin a year prior to the end of Grand Prairie's contract.

"Suddenly and without just cause, District 86 recently began making up false, non-specific, undocumented and unsubstantiated claims regarding Grand Prairie's performance that have no basis in fact as a pretext for going out to bid," according to the lawsuit.

Grand Prairie seeks damages in excess of $300,000, in addition to costs. It is represented by attorneys Michael R. Collins and John P. Collins of Collins and Collins in Chicago.
