Woman sues over injury at Chicago butcher shop

Peoriapacking

A woman is suing a butcher shop where she was allegedly injured when a bagger pulled the cart she was using away from her.

Tammy Hampton filed a complaint June 15 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Peoria Packaging Butcher Shop, 300 W. Lake St., Chicago.

According to the lawsuit, Hampton was ending her transaction with a cashier, when a bagger grabbed and pushed a cat she was using, causing her to fall.

The plaintiff is cited with pushing a cart being used away from the person who was using it, failing to protect Hampton from this happening, warning her that the cart was going to be removed, taking the cart without first making sure that doing so wouldn't injure her, failing to ask her if she was using said cart, and failing to confirm that she was still not using the cart.

The plaintiff, citing negligence, and willful and wanton behavior, seeks damages of more than $100,000, plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by Cannon D. Lambert, of Kerchmar and Lambert PC in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L006035.
