Cookcountycourt

A passenger allegedly injured on a city bus is suing the Chicago Transit Authority.

Josiland Anderson filed a lawsuit June 16 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13, 2014, Anderson was a passenger on a CTA bus heading south on Western Avenue. At Diversey and Schubert Avenues, the driver of the bus hit another vehicle, the lawsuit states, causing Anderson to suffer injuries to her back and neck.

After the collision, the suit says, Anderson and the rest of the passengers were made to exit the bus, without checking to see if anyone was injured. The lawsuit states the driver failed to render aid and left the scene.

The suit says the defendant failed to maintain a safe lookout, reduce speed and render aid. The defendant also allegedly drove recklessly.

As a result, the lawsuit states, the plaintiff suffered injury and damages of a personal and pecuniary nature.

Anderson seeks unspecified damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limit. She is represented by attorney Myron Mackoff of Richardson and Mackoff in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L006078.
