A woman's estate is suing over the bedsores she developed just prior to her death.
Stanley Robinson, as administrator of the estate of Flora Robinson, filed a complaint on June 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against Sacred Heart Home Health Inc., Wound Care on Wheels Inc., Pronger Smith Medical Care LLC, Dr. Kaihua Lai, and nurses Mary Foote and Claribel Tan.
From July 11, 2013, to May 23, 2014, the defendants were employed to perform home wound care to the deceased at her home at 3734 W. 104th Place, Robbins.
According to the lawsuit, the defendants are cited with carelessness and negligence for allowing her to develop bed sores and allowing them to become infected, as well as for failing to provide her an air mattress, admit her into a hospital for treatment of the ulcers, treat the infected sores, examine and treat her properly, and treat her infections.
As a result, the lawsuit states, Flora Robinson sustained injures that led to a deterioration of her condition, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement and medical expense.
The plaintiff, citing negligence and wrongful death, seeks damages in excess of $600,000, plus costs.
