Cookcountycourt

A glass worker is suing the businesses he alleges caused injuries he suffered on a job site.

Mark S. Bohnke filed a lawsuit June 30 in Cook County Circuit Court against Smithfield Construction Group Inc., Smithfield Chicago LaSalle, Sharlen Electric Co. and Concrete Structures of the Midwest Inc., alleging negligence, carelessness and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 17, 2014, Bohnke was working for Chicago Heights Glass on the 19th floor of a building at 805 N. LaSalle St., Chicago, undergoing renovation by the defendants. While working on a conduit, the lawsuit states, Bohnke tripped over an exposed conduit and fell, causing him injuries, pain and suffering, and medical expense.

The suit says the defendants failed to make a reasonable inspection of the area, provide Bohnke with a safe place to work, warn Bohnke about a dangerous condition, provide safeguards to prevent injury to Bohnke, supervise the work being done in the area, warn of the conduit and cover the conduit.

Bohnke seeks damages in excess of the court's jurisdictional limit, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Sean P. Murray of Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L006676.
