A Cook County couple is suing a podiatrist and a health care center, alleging wrongful treatment.
Jadwiga Opiela and Marian Zak filed a lawsuit Aug. 4, in Cook County Circuit Court against Vadim Goshko and European Foot and Ankle Surgical Care, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 6, 2013, Goshko practiced careless judgment while performing a bilateral partial plantar fasciotomy to Opiela’s right foot after Opiela had, during a previous office visit, and complained of bilateral heel pain.
The suit says shortly after the procedure, Opiela experienced great pain in her lower right extremity and was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates where she was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and later plantar neuropathy after undergoing an NCV and EMG to her right foot July 2, 2014.
The suit says Goshko and European Foot and Ankle were negligent in failing to correctly diagnose Opiela.
Opiela and Zak seek more than $50,000 in damages, plus court costs. They are represented by attorney Marion A. Morawicz of Chicago.
