Woman sues Jewel Food for alleged snow removal negligence

A woman is suing over claims that she was injured outside of a Jewel Food store on an unsafe sidewalk during the winter.

Patricia Miller, of Wilmette, filed a lawsuit Aug. 10 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Jewel Food Stores Inc. in conjunction with Logistics Corp.; Peter Bury, doing business as PB Construction Inc.; and Robert A. Snow Removal Inc.; citing negligence.

According to the claim, Miller was about to shop for groceries at a Jewel Food Store, located at 411 N. Green Bay Road in Wilmette on Dec. 29, 2013, when she slipped and fell, allegedly because of a dangerous condition on the sidewalk, causing her to incur injuries.

Miller is seeking damages of more than $50,000, plus the costs of this suit from Jewel Food Stores and the aforementioned organizations for their alleged negligence to not properly tend to snow removal and ice, which caused Miller to expend large sums of money for medical care and services for her injuries the claim states.

She is being represented by Charles R. Culbertson of Rubin, Machado and Rosenblum, LTD in Chicago.
