Cta

A woman is suing over claims she was injured when a Chicago Transit Authority train's doors caught her clothing and caused her to fall.

Carina Rivera filed a lawsuit Aug. 12 in Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority, citing negligence.

According to the claim, Rivera was exiting a CTA commuter train at the Western Station on the Midway Line on July 4 when the train doors closed before she could completely exit and her clothing became caught, causing her to fall forward and injure herself after being dragged.

Rivera is seeking damages of more than $100,000 and costs for the CTA’s negligence to not further practice safety of all its passengers, which caused her to incur the aforementioned injuries, including impairments to and throughout her body, and expend funds for medical care the claim states.

She is being represented by John Lally in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015L008247.
