A woman is suing nursing facility Warren Barr Gold Coast claiming negligence under the Nursing Home Care Act.

Elaine Marczewski filed suit Aug. 26 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division, against Warren Barr Living and Rehab Center LLC, doing business as Warren Barr Gold Coast, and Transitional Care Management LLC. Respondents named in the suit are Manor Care of Naperville, Ill. LLC, doing business as Manorcare Health Services – Naperville; Rush University Medical Center; Alden of Waterford LLC; and Alden Management Services Inc.

According to the complaint, Marczewski resided at Warren Bar Gold Coast from Sept. 7 to Sept. 24, 2013, where she developed multiple pressure sores, allegedly because the defendant failed to assist her with turning and repositioning. The claim states that because of the injuries, the plaintiff suffered unnecessary pain and suffering, poor quality of life, and loss of dignity and self-respect. In addition, the suit claims the defendant mismanaged the facility by misappropriating funds and failing to hire enough qualified staff to care for patients.

Attorneys Michael F. Bonamarte and Mary K. Volk of the Chicago firm Levin & Perconti are representing the plaintiff. Damages of more than $50,000 are sought.

Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division case number 2015-L-008758.
