A widower is suing several doctors and health care facilities citing the Illinois Wrongful Death Act in a dispute surrounding his wife’s death after an operation.

William Arundel, husband of Anna M. Arundel (deceased) filed suit Aug. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division against doctors Nouri Al-Khaled, Surendra Avula, Antone J. Tatooles and Paul Silverman. Also named as defendants are the following hospitals and/or medical practices: Consultants in Cardiology and Electrophysiology LLC, Cardiovascular Care Consultants S.C., Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgical Consultants, Advocate Physician Partners, Advocate Health Partners, and Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center.

The claim states that on Nov. 5, 2012, Anna M. Arundel was diagnosed with aortic stenosis and was recommended for a heart valve implantation by Al-Khaled. Anna Arundel underwent surgery on Nov. 28, 2012, and went into cardiogenic shock the next day due to the aortic valve migrating into the mitral valve. She died Aug. 30, 2013. In his lawsuit, plaintiff William Arundel alleges negligence on the part of the defendants led to Anna’s complications from the operation.

Attorneys Sean P. Hussey and Joseph T. Kasiak of the Chicago firm HK Law Group Inc. are representing the plaintiff, who is seeking a jury trial, damages of more than $50,000 from each defendant and litigation costs.

Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division case number 2015-L-008880.
