A Cook County woman is suing her former employer and three co-workers over allegations of battery and emotional distress.

Pamela White filed suit Aug. 31 in the Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division against Wellpoint Inc., doing business as AIM Specialty Health, and co-workers Thomas Allen, Debra Matich and Priscilla Phillip, alleging five counts of battery and five counts of negligent infliction of emotional distress.

White, who uses a walker, was terminated from her position at AIM Specialty Health on June 26, 2014. According to the lawsuit, as White attempted to retrieve her purse and belongings from her desk, defendants Allen, Matich and Phillip allegedly attacked the plaintiff, striking her and touching her in an offensive manner, causing emotional distress and physical injury.

Attorney Richard C. Sklare of the Sklare Law Group LLC in Chicago, is representing White in the lawsuit, which is seeking a jury trial, damages of more than $50,000 and court costs.
