A patient is suing a Cook County dermatologist and her business, alleging a botched surgery caused lasting injuries.

Margo Touris filed a lawsuit Aug. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Amy L. Brodsky and Brodsky Dermatology, alleging medical malpractice in a blepharoplastic procedure, a cosmetic surgery also known as an eye lift.

According to the complaint, the defendant and her practice, at 2601 Compass Road, Glenview, were in breach of duty Aug. 30 ,2013, when the doctor performed substandard work on the 66-year-old plaintiff’s lower eyelid area.

The suit says the bilateral blepharoplasty resulted in a condition called cicatricial ectropian, wherein the patient’s lower eyelids’ turned outward away from her eyeballs, giving her a deformed appearance.

The lawsuit states Touris met in September 2013 with a second plastic surgeon, who said the plaintiff would need major corrective surgery involving skin grafts. Touris underwent three corrective surgeries in 2013 and 2014 by a third surgeon, the suit says.

The plaintiff alleges professional negligence and failure to provide informed consent of the risks of the original surgery.

Touris seeks more than $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorneys Paul Kelly, David King and Alexander Vroustouris of Kelly & King in Chicago.
