A woman is suing a motorist over allegations of negligence after being hit by a car while crossing Kedzie Avenue in Chicago.

Marilyn McKenna filed a complaint Aug. 24 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division against Cheryl Ryan and Little City Foundation, alleging negligence and negligent training/supervision.

On Oct. 1, 2013 at approximately 2:50 p.m., the complaint states, McKenna was lawfully crossing Kedzie Avenue at the intersection of Chicago Avenue in Chicago, when Ryan, who was driving her personal vehicle in her capacity as an employee of Little City Foundation, struck McKenna while attempting to make a right turn on a red light.

The complaint states that Ryan was negligent in her failure to keep a proper lookout and to stop for a pedestrian lawfully in the crosswalk, among other negligent acts.

As a result of the accident, McKenna suffered major injuries that required surgery, sustained physical pain and mental anguish, and has incurred substantial medical expenses. McKenna seeks a judgment of more than $50,000 against each defendant, plus costs of the suit.

McKenna is represented by James R. Fennerty of James R. Fennerty & Associates LLC in Chicago.
