A woman is suing Bernard Mitchell Hospital over negligence claims after a wet floor allegedly caused her to slip and fall.

Patsy Martin filed a complaint Aug. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division against the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Medical Center, doing business as Bernard Mitchell Hospital, alleging negligence.

On July 30, the complaint states, Martin was at Bernard Mitchell Hospital, owned by the defendants, when she slipped and fell on a wet floor.

The complaint states the defendants were negligent in failing to warn of the slippery floor condition, failing to properly maintain the floor to be free of slippery conditions, and other negligent acts or omissions.

As a result of the accident, Martin was injured and sustained pain and suffering, disfigurement, disability, loss of normal life, and has incurred medical expenses.

Martin seeks a judgment in excess of the minimal jurisdictional limit of the court, plus costs of the suit. She is represented by Michael M. Viglione of Ryan Ryan & Landa in Waukegan.
