JW Plastic Surgery, surgeon sued over alleged negligence during surgery

Healthcare

A woman from Malibu, Calif. is suing JW Plastic Surgery and one of its surgeons over claims of medical negligence that lead to her requiring revision surgeries.

Teresa Wenig filed a complaint Aug. 21 in Cook County Circuit Court, Law Division against Jeffery Weinzweig, M.D., FACS, and the Chicago Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery LLC, doing business as JW Plastic Surgery, alleging medical negligence.

On Aug. 22, 2013, the complaint states, Weinzweig performed rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, scar revision umbilicus, and lower abdomen scar revision surgeries for Wenig at JW Plastic Surgery.

On Dec. 13, 2013, Weinzweig had to perform a second procedure on Wenig to remedy the first one, this time swapping out the original breast implants with larger implants.

The complaint states the defendants were negligent in improperly performing rhinoplasty procedures and improperly implanting breast implants.

As a result, Wenig experienced pain and suffering, emotional distress, disability and disfigurement, and has incurred substantial medical bills to correct the initial procedures.

Wenig seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs of the suit. She is represented by Michael Holden of Romanucci & Blandin in Chicago.
