Cook County man sues Chicago taxi company after he was pinned between cabs

144425595082960

A Cook County man is suing Chicago cab companies and a driver, alleging negligence and neglect when he says he was pinned between two taxi cabs while loading his luggage.

Benjamin Murray filed a lawsuit Oct. 2 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against Chicago Elite Cab Corp, Khalid Elhawari, Royal 3 CCC Chicago Taxi Association Inc, and Barometer II Hacking Corporation, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on May 14, Murray was loading his luggage to the cab parked in front of him at the public terminal of O’Hare International Airport. Khalid Elhawari, operating a cab owned and maintained by Chicago Elite Cab Corp, the Royal 3 CCC Chicago Taxi Association Inc, and Barometer II Hacking Corporation, pulled up behind Murray and exited his taxi cab without putting the vehicle in park, the suit says.

The lawsuit says the cab operated by Elhawari then pinned Murray between the front bumper of Elhawari’s cab and the rear bumper of the cab to which the plaintiff was loading his luggage, causing him to suffer injuries.

Murray seeks an undisclosed amount of money, court costs and trial by jury. He is represented by attorney Michelle M. Kohut of Corboy and Demetrio in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 15-L-010079.
