A Cook County woman is suing several health care providers, alleging negligence.

Judith Skorek filed a lawsuit Sept. 3 in Cook County Circuit Court against Advocate Health and Hospitals Corp. doing business as Advocate Medical Group, Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare, doing business as Edward Hospitals and Health Services, Edward Hospital, Midwest Heart Specialists doing business as Advocate Midwest Heart Specialists, and Dr. Stanley E. Clark.

According to the complaint, in November 2011, Skorek underwent a CT angiogram that revealed not only an aortic aneurysm, but also a lung nodule. The suit says the lung mass was ignored, and the plaintiff subsequently developed brain cancer that she says metastasized from the lung nodule.

The lawsuit states the defendants were negligent by allegedly failing to detect the cancer and begin treatment.

Skorek seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus legal costs. She is represented by attorneys Michael P. Cogan and Thomas K. Prindable of Cogan & Power in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-009072.
