A Cook County couple is suing the wife’s health-care providers, alleging malpractice.
Lynn and John McMahan filed a lawsuit Oct. 20 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Bryan M. Bluhm, Midwest Emergency Associates, Team Health, registered nurse Michelle A. Power, Amita Health St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates doing business as St. Alexius Medical Center.
On Oct. 21, 2013, the complaint states, Bluhm treated Lynn McMahan after she came to the St. Alexius emergency room for an Addisonian crisis. The suit says Bluhm failed to administer the proper medication while treating McMahan, but gave her discharge instructions that said she had received the medicine.
According to the suit, McMahan suffered severe, long-term cognitive impairment because the Addisonian crisis went untreated.
The McMahans seek damages of more than $50,000. They are represented by attorney William A. Cirignani of Cirignani Heller & Harman of Chicago.
