Evanston police investigator blames building owners for injuries

Injury

An Evanston police investigator is suing the owners of a building where he says he was injured while on the job.

Richard Worshill filed a lawsuit Aug. 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Church Street Office Center, NNN Realty Investors (formerly known as Triple Net Properties), Colliers International Asset Property Management Services and Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler doing business as Colliers International, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 16, 2013, Worshill suffered injuries when he fell through a metal grate and into a concrete vault on the defendants’ property at 1007 Church St. Evanston, while photographing a crime scene.

The plaintiff charges the defendants with liability, alleging it failed to maintain safe conditions at the property.

Worshill seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by attorneys Bradley M. Cosgrove and Marta M. Kowalczyk of Clifford Law Offices in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-008826.
