A Cook County woman is suing a Chicago nursing home, alleging negligence in mother's death.

Pamela Stephens, independent administrator of the estate of Renee Gowins, filed a lawsuit Aug. 28 in Cook County Circuit Court against Peterson Park Health Care Center and Peterson Park Associates.

The complaint says Gowins, a resident of Peterson Park, 6141 N. Pulaski Road, Chicago, for two months beginning December 2013, developed pressure sores, pneumonia, sepsis, collapsed lung and dehydration during her stay. The plaintiff alleges Gowins was inadequately supervised and treated, leading to her death Feb. 10, 2014.

Stephens seeks a jury trial and damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney Jeffrey Schlapp of the Schlapp Law Group in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number 2015-L-008853.
