A Cook County woman is suing an Elmwood Park care facility, alleging negligence in the death of her mother.
Graciela Diaz, independent administrator of the estate of Rosa Gallegos de Garcia, filed a lawsuit Nov. 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Elmwood Care Inc. and Elmwood Care Property. Affiliated Dialysis Centers and Affiliated Dialysis of Glen Ellyn were named as respondents in discovery.
The complaint accuses Elmwood Care, 7733 W. Grand Ave., Elmwood Park, of failing to provide adequate care for Gallegos de Garcia, who suffered from skin breakdowns and developed several pressure sores while she lived at the facility Nov. 1-29, 2013. The suit says she suffered from pain, disfigurement and mental distress, and incurred medical expenses prior to her death Dec. 15, 2013.
Diaz seeks damages of more than $50,000. She is represented by attorney James P. Lynch of the Keating Law Offices in Chicago.
